Prana is the Sanskrit word for universal energy or “life force,” analogous to theChinese concept of “chi” or what homeopaths call “vital force.” In the yogic tradition, prana is seen as pervading and animating the universe, flowing through all things, including us. Yogic practices are designed to increase the flow of prana in our bodies and minds to facilitate healing and expand consciousness. Increased pranic flow enhances mental clarity, emotional stability and physical vitality. In this Prana Yoga teacher training course, you will learn how to practice and teach yoga as a profound science that unites movement, breath, sound, concentration, meditation and prayer. Approached in this way, yogic practice becomes a deeply potent healing and transformational path. This training will enable you to become a teacher of yoga at its essence and greatly expand the depth, power, and healing effects of your own practice.
This course will include:
- Learning to practice and teach 22 basic postures in a deep, safe and healing way
- Practicing Prana Yoga together for 1 hour at the beginning of each session
- Learning specific breathing techniques and mantras/sounds for each posture
- Learning the optimal way to enter the postures for best alignment and safety, including modifications for many different conditions to facilitate healing in yourself and your students
- Basic Western and yogic anatomy and physiology, including how prana yoga impacts each part of our physical and subtle bodies
- The history and philosophy of yoga, including the study of ancient yogic texts, such as the Bhagavad Gita and Yoga Sutras
- Direct experiences of prana in your body through meditation techniques, mantra chanting and specific chakra techniques
- 3 full-day practice teaching sessions in a safe setting to help you gain confidence as a prana yoga teacher.
NEW: The Prana Yoga Teacher Training will include a 3 hour Usui Reiki I training/ Attunement session which will allow you to access the ki/ prana flowing through the chakra at a deeper level for yourself, students, family and friends. This stronger energy connection through the chakra will deepen your yoga practice, your ability to teach and assist your yoga students, and the experience of the revitalizing prana flow in general in your day to day life. You will receive a Usui Reiki I certificate at the completion of this section. This we be at no extra cost, (usually between $160-$250)
We will learn, play and teach together in a relaxed yet focused way. To help keep you in touch with the training between sessions, there will be practice teaching assignments, inspirational and practical reading, journaling of your personal experience and ways to stay in touch with each other. We ask that you agree to practice Prana Yoga at least five days a week during the course to stay in touch with the practice and yourself. Also, in order that we all begin with a basic knowledge of the postures, you must have practiced hatha yoga regularly for at least three months and/or have taken at least six months of weekly classes. The course will build on whatever form of yoga you are practicing. Yoga teachers and students from all schools and traditions are welcome. Join us for a nine-month journey into the essence of yoga and the healing power of prana. A 200-hour Yoga Alliance approved teaching certificate will be given upon completion of course requirements.

Prana Yoga Teacher Training at PCYH has been a life changing experience for me. The teachers are well learned and their teaching methodology is very simple yet very authentic. The nurturing atmosphere at the PCYH makes one want to go there even after the training is over. Deborah is like the head of a family who you can approach even with something personal and be rest assured she will give you the optimal and reasonable suggestions. She is a delight to talk to. I used to call PCYH as my home away from home. In the beginning, when I enrolled, I was skeptical on how I will sustain the long training days but they passed very quickly. The humorous nature of the Mr. Jeff makes one feel at home and he has the ability to impart knowledge while having fun. The postures chosen are very well researched and the program comes together quite cohesively. Jeff also told us many interesting stories including some that were new to me even though I come from India. Marisa is a very gentle teacher and a very kind soul. Her classes are something to look forward to. Overall the YTT at PCYH is like embarking on a journey towards your true self. namaste!

“This training was such a gift. Jeff is a master teacher and yogi, and Marissa , a wonderful teacher and woman. I learned deeper levels of the yogic path and feel blessed to have spent this time with these wonderful instructors who both live what they teach. This training is powerful for both seasoned teachers and those wanting to learn of this sacred path.” Michelle C
“This program was indeed life changing to say the least. The memories of this class and all the teachings are cellular – this speaks to the depth of knowledge and authenticity that our teachers embodied. This, for me, is of utmost importance in a school.” John M “Prana Yoga was a “well-rounded” 200-hr yoga teacher training program. Besides learning how to safely teach the asanas and the connected anatomy and physiology , I am grateful for the exposure to the chakras and how to use their sounds, as well as scripture study. A true yoga education. Jeff Migdow is very committed to his students and the philosophy of his program.” Gail B “Prana Yoga Teacher Training gave me a much deeper and profound professional training experience than I had anticipated. There were guest instructors and volunteers assisting with each module always challenging us and showing us personalized teaching methods. I was able to envision the Yoga class of my own creation with their knowledge and expertise.” Susan B
